Working at an observatory is very different to most people’s jobs. It requires spending lots of time at night in the cold. However, even though I have been doing it for a number of years I still get excited looking at all the interesting objects in the sky. There is so much to see in the sky without the need for big telescopes :). I am always training people that have never looked through a telescope before on how to do astronomy. It is always very satisfying to introduce people to see their first planet, galaxy or nebula. Although the best is showing people how to view places in the solar system that we believe have the greatest chance of life to exist with a small pair of binoculars.
