For Sunshine this was Professor Brian Cox and for Interstellar this was Professor Kip Throne a theoretical astrophysicist working in the area of black holes, gravitational waves and wormholes. These types of partnerships ensure that the film is as scientifically correct as it is enjoyable to watch.
The exciting part about this partnership of scientists with the film creators actually led to new scientific discoveries. Creating the highest resolution simulation of space around a black hole that was realistic for the film actually helped scientists understand more about the physics of black holes. This is how realistic Interstellar as a film was and if you want a good visualisation of relativity its certainly a good place to start.
