Interstellar as a film got the science pretty much spot on. The visualisation of the very complicated physics happening around a black hole was very accurate. Many films like Interstellar will consult with a scientist or scientists to make sure that the science being portray in the film is correct. For Sunshine this was Professor Brian Cox and for Interstellar this was Professor Kip Throne a theoretical astrophysicist working in the area of black holes, gravitational waves and wormholes. These types of partnerships ensure that the film is as scientifically correct as it is enjoyable to watch.
The exciting part about this partnership of scientists with the film creators actually led to new scientific discoveries. Creating the highest resolution simulation of space around a black hole that was realistic for the film actually helped scientists understand more about the physics of black holes. This is how realistic Interstellar as a film was and if you want a good visualisation of relativity its certainly a good place to start.
