I’m not a medical doctor, nor a science doctor! I’m just studying for my PhD now, which will qualify me as a ‘Doctor of Science’.
I was more inspired by the process of science itself than a person, but my supervisor during my degree was really supportive when I decided I wanted to seriously become a researcher. It helps to have a mentor figure to guide you a little, someone who’s done it before and wants you to succeed.

I too am not a medical doctor. I did my doctoral degree in physics or more specially astrophysics. At the time of wanting to do a PhD I started it purely for myself and and was inspired to do it as I wanted to prove to myself I was capable of doing. However, it has since resulted in me working in a very exciting area of science.

Not a medical doctor, nor a non-medical doctor . . . 🙁 . . . maybe one day I will make a return to academia proper and go for a PhD.

Like Lucy I’m also studying for my PhD now so I will be a Doctor of Science too! I wouldn’t be of any use to someone who is ill though, we would need to leave the sick people to the medical doctors like Rochelle.
I was inspired to get my doctorate degree because I saw these incredible researchers and I wanted to be just like them. I want to be the best at what I do and then help teach others about it. I’m really passionate about science and space so I hope to encourage other people into science :).
Also, being called Doctor Sargeant sounds really cool to me so I can’t wait to have that name 😀
