The thing I enjoy the most when I’m looking up at the sky and the stars is that suddenly everything else in the world does not matter. All of the problems or worries we have in everyday life or as a species and planet are so insignificant when we see just how big the universe is. I also find it fascinating that there are so many planets and stars out there. Therefore there are so many different worlds that the chance of life existing somewhere, in my opinion, is very high. Not only that but we may have already found these worlds with life on and seen them through telescopes without knowing. The most important question is will we ever know about this life even if we can find an exact twin of Earth?

I love how small it makes me feel. We spend our whole lives on Earth looking up at the stars and planets so far away that they feel untouchable, unreal. But in the same way that never meeting someone who lives on the other side of the planet doesn’t make them unreal, the stars and planets have their own lives and histories and landscapes as much as Earth. The sun rises blue on Mars, for instance, and there is an exoplanet that is so close to its sun that one side is always lava and the other frozen solid. These things really exist!! They’re so alien and weird and incredible, and studying space means we learn not only about them but also that we are just one small planet amongst it all.
