I haven’t looked at space rocks – meteorites – myself, but my boyfriend is doing his whole PhD on them. He takes pieces of rocks that once belonged to asteroids and takes them apart to see what they’re made of. Just by looking at the tiny minerals inside, he can tell what the solar system was up to four and a half BILLION years ago. He’s called a ‘cosmochemist’ (from ‘cosmo’ relating to space, and chemist because of the chemistry involved) and he’s cooler than I’ll ever be.
