Yes I have a PhD in physics, well technically astrophysics. The title of my thesis was “Saturn’s Turbulent F Ring” and incorporated computer models I had written to test some ideas of Saturn’s rings and compare them to spacecraft data (Cassini).

If you want to do research you will typically have to do a PhD. A PhD can be seen like doing an apprenticeship to being a scientist.

I’m working on getting my PhD now! This will give me the credibility to be considered a reputable scientist, and will give me excellent experience at addressing a research question on my own. It will last four years and I’m six months in.

I’m also working on my PhD now. That means I work on a specific project for a few years and learn how to do research on my own. I still get to write scientific reports and do talks at major conferences though, just like other researchers.
